Penalty flag causes fumbled punt in Jaguars-Cardinals game

The Jacksonville Jaguars had an exhilarating day on special teams in Sunday’s 31-19 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The splashiest came when Jamal Agnew returned a 68-yard field goal attempt by Matt Prater 109 yards for a touchdown at the end of the first half, tying an NFL record for the longest play ever.

But before that big play, the punt coverage team nearly got an incredible gift thanks to an errant official’s flag.

Rondale Moore was waiting to field the first punt of the game from the Jaguars’ Logan Moore. An official threw a flag on the play for an illegal block. The flag flew from behind Moore and struck the ball as it came down. Moore muffed the punt, clearly stunned by what just happened.
